Hi everyone,

I'm looking for an icebreaker or energiser exercise for a group of 6 (newish!) Mentors. We have had our initial mentoring workshop and this second one is to bring them together to examine, discuss and share experiences of mentoring so far. Anything around building credibility with a mentee would be particularly helpful, if anyone has any ideas they can share? Something reasonably short and snappy or fun that lends itself well to the topic of mentoring would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Rebecca,

It occurred to me this morning, that one of my all time favourites, Sweet Talking, would work really well here for this topic if you adapted the debrief and made the link to the importance of Mentors building an understanding what those they are mentoring hope, need and want to achieve, rather than just launching into advice or sharing their wisdom.

Hope this helps.

Hi Rebecca I used to have 1/4rly mentor and mentee meetings and I ran an expectations exercise which I devised myself. Mentors went into a group and brainstormed 2 lists of??.. A mentor should be??????/ A mentee should be ????? The Mentees did the same and then I brought them together and discussed differences in expectations. The other exercise I did was for mentors to create a poster advertising mentoring in the organisation, I supplied all the coloured pens and glitter and glue, they had great fun and some of the posters were amazing. You could also do vision boarding of what a good mentor looks like and just supply lots of magazines. Hope that helps Kate
