Hi Karen, I have an on-job trainer course, where I used an exercise based on Kim's Game to highlight the saying I hear I forget, I see I remember, I do I understand. I start by reading out 20 items twice and then ask them to write down as many as they can remembers. I put up the scores on a flip chart under 'I hear" then I have 20 items on a tray which I reveal for 2 minutes asking them just to look, no talking our touching or asking questions. Again list the scores under I see. Then I get them around the tray saying that they can touch, discuss, group all the items which ever way they wish and give them 2 mins. Again list the scores under 'I do'. Also there is the ABC structure of Attention (WIN What, Interest, Need) then B for breakdown into stages, and C for checking) hope this is of some use. I used to be licensed for these courses through a company called Stonebow, whom I think they are now called Premier life skills in the UK. |

Thank you Ken and Frances for your responses. Some good ideas here for me to pursue. |

I've had success with Kepner Tregoe's "Systematic Teaching" process, which all Kepner Tregoe certified facilitators learn during their train the trainer program. You may be able to find some information on it on the net - but do be careful, as most material found are copyright protected.
