Hello everyone,

We have our company conference coming up, think 100 people, most of which never met each other due to last 2 years and lots of new starters…they will all be sat theatre style. Can anyone suggest any fun icebreakers for a group this size? I’m a bit bored of making people turn to person next to them and doing 2 truths 1 lie!!

Thanks in advance

Thank you all, some great ideas. Will be using all of them in the future for sure!

Hi Richard, another idea for you. They stand in pairs, facing one another. Explain this is a counting game, the first round being a simple count to 3. Person A say 1, Person B says 2, Person A says 3 and then back to Person B to start on 1. Try a minute or so of this before stopping and saying we're going to replace the number 2 with a clap. Don't say 2 out loud just clap instead and follow the same pattern as before - it's not as easy as it sounds. You can spend more time on this as people have fun at how difficult it is. You can then replace 1 with an action, maybe a tap on the knee or similar, and then for 3 wave their hands in the air or similar. I've done this with large groups of senior people and it always goes down well. Good Luck!

Hi Richard, with that number I often do a giant game of rock, paper scissors. They all get on their feet, find a partner and have 1 round. If they win, the other person stands behind them and finds a new opponent. They keep going and create mini lines of people behind those playing. You basically end up with 2 long "worms" of people snaking around the room for the final standoff with the 2 people left standing -creates so much laughter and energy and can highly recommend!

Hi. We have used a Bingo game recently. You can make the questions company specific, focussing on current company priorities, or 2022 highlights etc. The key is to "doctor" 2 or 3 of the bingo answer sheets to have all the answers, but the majority, say 96 or 97 have 80% of the answers but not all.... so you are guaranteed to control the number of winners. And the winner gets a snazzy box of choccies, or company mascot teddy bear, or something equally inspiring. We found it was really engaging, involved everyone, and was good fun.

You could play a game of Chinese Whispers along each row - great icebreaker especially if you use a tongue twister. You could also try Simon Says get them all standing and engaging at once - usually good fun & gets the energy up.

Hi Richard,
To build on Tracy's response you could add a sequence of openers such as:
Suddenly...
You'll never beieve what happened next...
They turned around and...
Behind them...
you probably get the thinking drift.

My suggestion will depend on the space between your theatre rows.
You could get them all to face left and the fron person to have a baloon or parcel or ball (something they would need to hold in both hands.
First person in line passes the ball to their left, second person passes to their right, third person to their left and so on...
It would generate a lot of noise and laughs. You could have a prize for the winners, a forfeit for the losers.
This would create competition and team work right from the get-go.

Have fun.

Hi How about these: Tall Tales This game doesn't require movement so it is great for a room of any size. Each player adds 3 sentences to a running story. Their last sentence must begin with Suddenly...!
