Remote working is becoming continuously more commonplace and there are many advantages for both employer and employee. However, those working remotely can often feel isolated and less motivated so the importance of recognising the challenges of working remotely and establishing clear guidelines is essential learning for participants.

Sorting Out - Teamwork (Review)

Time:
In total we estimate this exercise will take 30 minutes.

Aims:
• To explore the core skills of effective remote/project teams.
• To identify what skills are needed for a team to work together when not physically in the same location.

About

Time:
This exercise will take about 20 minutes to complete. In total, allowing for discussion, we recommend allowing 30 minutes for completion.

Aims:
• To explore the core skills of effective remote/project teams.
• To identify what skills are needed for a team to work together when not physically in the same location.

Group Size:
This module can be used with groups of 6 or more participants.

You'll Need:
• 1 set of Sorting Out Shape Cards per 3 participants and envelopes to put the cards in.
• Everyone needs to use a mobile phone during the exercise.
• A stopwatch.
• 2 break out spaces are required for this exercise to be effective.

Notes:
You may wish to let your participants know in advance that they will need to bring their mobile phones with them.

The Wheel - The Importance of Teamwork (Review)

Time:
In total we estimate this exercise will take 15 minutes.

Aims:
• To understand how easy it is to focus on our own goals and forget the bigger picture of what our team/organisation needs.
• To explore how adopting a team mentality is beneficial even when focused on individual tasks.

About

Time:
This exercise will take about 10 minutes to complete. In total, allowing for discussion, we recommend allowing 15 minutes for completion.

Aims:
• To understand how easy it is to focus on our own goals and forget the bigger picture of what our team/organisation needs.
• To explore how adopting a team mentality is beneficial even when focused on individual tasks.

Group Size:
This module can be used with groups of up to 25 participants.

You'll Need:
• 1 game board, one die and 8 counters for every 8 participants.
• Prizes of wrapped sweets/chocolates.

Notes:
This is intended as a follow up to The Wheel - The Importance of Teamwork (Icebreaker), found in the Icebreakers and Energisers section of Trainers' Library. The slight twist in how it's played is it's designed to see what participants have learnt since the first time they played the game.
