Action Planning - Implementing the Learning

Time:
In total we estimate this exercise will take 15 minutes.

Aims:
• To allow participants to reflect upon what they have learnt and create a plan for implementing the learning with clear goals and timescales.
• To identify the additional support they will need in order to achieve their goals.

This exercise will take about 10 minutes to complete. In total, allowing for discussion, we recommend allowing 15 minutes for completion.

Aims:
• To allow participants to reflect upon what they have learnt and create a plan for implementing the learning with clear goals and timescales.

Suitable for use with groups of any size.

Useful For:
Anyone attending a course or workshop.

You'll Need:
• Plenty of spare copies of the Action Plan handout provided.

Notes:
We recommend that you repeat this exercise in short bursts at regular intervals throughout the training, rather than leave it to the very end of the event when participants will be tired and more inclined to be thinking about their journey home.

Art Gallery - Creating a Visual Representation of Learning

Aims:
• To articulate what participants have learnt and what the subject means to them now.

This module is suitable for use with groups of up to 20 participants.

You'll Need:
• Flipchart paper, colourful pens and coloured stickers or shapes.

Notes:
As a variation, you can ask your participants to create a collage, instead of a drawing. If you choose this option you will also need a collection of old magazines, postcards, birthday cards etc., scissors and glue.

• A selection of picture postcards, one postcard per participant, and a few spare ones. (Select postcards with a variety of images: Animals, countryside, coastal scenes, historic buildings, modes of transport, etc.)

• 2 cardboard stars or star shaped post it notes for each participant.
• Blu tack will also be needed if you use the cardboard stars.

Notes:
The perfect time to use this exercise is just before participants make final adjustments to their action plans.

• A selection of sweets with various coloured wrappers – enough sweets for each person to take at least two. (Avoid using nut-based sweets due to the risk of allergy.)
