• To give participants the opportunity to consider what the subject means to them and the other participants currently.




9:45 AM Delegation - Sink or Swim

This module is expected to last for 60 minutes

Aims:
• To introduce participants to the subject of delegation.
• To explore what constitutes effective and ineffective delegation.
• To consider best practice when delegating.
• To identify some pitfalls to avoid when delegating.



Notes
Use the discussion questions from both of the previous activities to explore delegation, what works, what doesn’t and why. Use the slides from Delegation - Sink or Swim as needed.

11:00 AM Motivators

This module is expected to last for 60 minutes

Aims:
• To explore what motivates us.
• To identify ways of maintaining motivation.



Notes
Use this module to explore why it's important to delegate and that learning and development is an important key to engaging and motivating people. 

12:00 PM Evie Takes a Chance - Problems with Unplanned Delegation

This module is expected to last for 60 minutes

Aims:
This case study can be used to explore a variety of topics including:
• Delegation.
• Leadership.
• Becoming a leader.
• Coaching.




1:00 PM Lunch
1:45 PM Delegation is like Lego…

This module is expected to last for 45 minutes

Aims:
• To understand why we delegate.
• To understand how to delegate effectively.




2:30 PM Effective Delegation

This module is expected to last for 120 minutes

Aims:
• To agree the important principles of effective delegation.
• To review and learn from the experience of being delegated to.
• To recognise potential barriers to delegation.
• To prepare a checklist for effective delegation.
• To identify tasks that can’t be delegated.
• To plan for delegation.

Run this module up to the second exercise on page 6.
