Hi Andrea - I have a three day programme I'm currently delivering in the NHS, using mostly materials from Glasstao - all of the ones' below are included, and we have our day 3 as a practice/feedback session. Happy to send you my presentations if you would like. Please email me on [email protected]. Thanks, Gill

Great exercise Lisa. Very simple and yet effective :-)

Andrea - In terms of material we have in the library, hopefully there is quite a lot that can help you to update your training. Here are a few that spring to mind:

Making Messages Memorable - https://www.trainerslibrary.com/user_area/materials/training_doc_details.aspx?doc=1783&area=4
This is a brand new exercise in the library and introduces participants to the Rule of Three for how to help information retention.

Another great exercise that explores memorable learning is Patsy's Pie Making Challenge - https://www.trainerslibrary.com/user_area/materials/training_doc_details.aspx?doc=1749&area=4

At a Crossroads - https://www.trainerslibrary.com/user_area/materials/training_doc_details.aspx?doc=1652&area=2
This is the train the trainer version of our popular board game.

How Long? - https://www.trainerslibrary.com/user_area/materials/training_doc_details.aspx?doc=1782&area=2
This is another new addition to the library and is a deceptively powerful exercise all about how confidence affects our ability to learn new skills.

Going Dotty - https://www.trainerslibrary.com/user_area/materials/training_doc_details.aspx?doc=1669&area=2
This is a brilliant exercise for showing why you need to really engage learners.

Another one that links to this topic is Behaviour Matters - https://www.trainerslibrary.com/user_area/materials/training_doc_details.aspx?doc=540&area=2

Setting Up - https://www.trainerslibrary.com/user_area/materials/training_doc_details.aspx?doc=1766&area=4
This is a great way to open any train the trainer day and encourages participants to think about the training environment and why they need to arrive in plenty of time before delivering training.

I hope that these suggestions are useful Andrea. There are loads more options, but I hope this gets you started.

All the best.

Hi Andrea, I developed a Train the Trainer course in my last organisation but unfortunately done't have any soft copies of the material I can share. However the intro exercise I used was to build a lego model. I bought 3 sets (at around ?5) from Tesco (a plane, a helicopter and a truck). Each was in a small box. After splitting the group into small teams of 3 or 4 I gave each team a bag containing just the bricks and asked them to make a plane/helicopter/truck depending on which set they had been given. After a couple of minutes I then gave each team the box to match their set, which had the picture on and told them that was the particular plane/helicopter/truck I wanted them to make. Then after another couple of minutes I gave them the instruction sheet from the kit. After allowing time for each team to finish their models, I debriefed the exercise with the following questions: Why did I give you that exercise? What did it show you? The point being that good training gives a clear visions of success (the picture) but also breaks down the steps to achieve that success and gives clear instruction. It was a fun way to start the training and got the delegates working together and building rapport early on in the session. Hope it's helpful.
