9:00 AM Art Gallery - Creating a Visual Representation (Time Management)

This module is expected to last for 30 minutes

Aims:
• To explore the topic of Time Management.
• To understand what Time Management means to each individual participant.



Notes
At the end of the activity, establish some clear learning objectives for individuals and the group. What do they want to achieve from the day? To be able to do better or differently? How will they know the training has been successful?

9:30 AM The Wedding Planner - A Time Management Exercise

This module is expected to last for 55 minutes

Aims:
• To highlight the importance of time management.
• To introduce some of the key aspects of effective time management.




10:25 AM Time is Money - An Exercise in Prioritising

This module is expected to last for 15 minutes

Aims:
• To demonstrate the need to prioritise.
• To make the point that time is a limited resource and it may not be possible to achieve everything on the 'wish list'.




10:40 AM Break
10:55 AM The Art of Prioritising

This module is expected to last for 75 minutes

Aims:
• To provide an opportunity for participants to practise using the urgent/important matrix.
• To introduce the ABC and matrix systems, as alternative methods for prioritising work.




12:10 PM Procrastination - A Hot Topic

This module is expected to last for 15 minutes

Aims:
• To give participants an opportunity to feel for themselves how stressful procrastination can be.




12:30 PM Lunch
1:45 PM Interruptions and Other Time Stealers

This module is expected to last for 55 minutes

Aims:
• To identify time stealers.
• To discuss ways of dealing with time stealers.




2:40 PM The Hungry Chick Inn

This module is expected to last for 180 minutes

Aims:
• To test participants’ commitment to teamwork, as well as their ability to communicate effectively and work co-operatively together.
• To test participants’ ability to work together under pressure and apply a structured and systematic approach to completing a task.
• To test participants’ ability to prioritise and plan a range of tasks, based on both urgency and importance.
• To develop team skills and test time management skills.
• To test participants’ abilities to prepare a work-plan that will enable them to successfully open the hotel to its guests.



Notes
Ask teams to take a 10 minute break during the activity.

You can reduce the discussion time at the end as this is being used as an opportunity to review the learning and consolidate it.

4:45 PM Action Planning - Implementing the Learning

This module is expected to last for 15 minutes

Aims:
• To allow participants to reflect upon what they have learnt and create a plan for implementing the learning with clear goals and timescales.
• To identify the additional support they will need in order to achieve their goals.
