Hi Refiya, I'm sure there are lots of us that this resonates with and you don't say what exactly is in your management programme so here's some thoughts. If managers have high expectations and yet there is no sense of feeling valued where's the WIIFM for managers to do this well. So I would focus on creating a real sense of value and learning and using the 70 and the 20 (70:20:10) to maximum use. Can you create a lunch and learn agenda with speakers on topical issues for managers? Speakers could include more senior managers talking on industry trends, their career, using their networks to bring someone in e.g. suppliers. Set up action learning groups for managers to problem solve together. Set up peer to peer mentoring, provide opportunities to take time out to volunteer in organisations that provide good skill development for managers such as treasurer, fund raiser etc e.g. school PTa and governing body. Set up manager coffee mornings and rotate who brings the biscuits / croissants just to share what's going on in their areas, meet other people. Start curating content that you share with them on a community group - could be a google hangout if you haven't any platform. e.g. a great TED talk. Hope that helps. |
