Hello! Looking for some advice. We're looking to do an internal assessment centre for new Team Leaders (contact centre environment), but due to the current Covid-19 situation, people are largely working from home and are obviously socially distanced. Just wondering if anyone has run anything like this recently and if you have any tips or advice? We're thinking it will be run over Microsoft Teams with potentially some people in the same meeting room, but just wondering if there are any other better ways to do this? Thanks.

Hi Sally, as it was for a graduate role, I provided them with 10 benefits of the graduate scheme and asked them to select 5 they would use in a marketing brochure to encourage the best applicants. They had 20 minutes and had to provide rationale for their final answer. Competencies assessed were communication, team work and problem solving. Drop me a line to [email protected] if you'd like any more info.

That's great Ann, thanks very much. That was along the lines of what I was thinking so that makes sense. What sort of group exercise did you run? Thanks

Hi Sally, I recently ran a mock assessment centre for my local university. It was fine over Teams, and there is the new breakout facility available too. I would just say to make sure everyone has good internet access and is aware they will be expected to be on video. I ran a group exercise and created a discussion piece rather than a practical exercise and it worked well. When assessing, I switched off my camera so as not to distract the participants. Hope that helps a bit?
