Has anyone any recommendations for on line training that would benefit two senior people with anger and aggression issues. I have worked with them separately on assertiveness but feel they would benefit from working together on a series of on-line courses. It has to be on-line as they are in different locations but for the same company although they have different functions and do not work directly together. Any suggestions much appreciated.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I have been coaching both of these individiduals for a while separately and it was their suggestion that perhaps there might be something they could do together as they feel they have similar issues. From your responses I think it is clear that continuing with the coaching is the best option. Thanks again for your input.

Hi Marilyn, if this is about their own anger and aggression, then online learning will be difficult to address this collectively and for change to take place. E-learning certainly serves a purpose, but from my experience, it tends to raise awareness and doesn't always lead to sustainable change, unless there is some form of follow up activity or discussion to hold them accountable. Some modules such as transactional analysis (sounds like they are operating potentially from critical parent mode), Emotional intelligence, Assertion, Considering the impact that they have on others could be useful, but again follow up development would be advantageous. Coaching will be the best option to challenge and reframe their thinking, and help them to identify the route cause and impact their behaviour has on others and their business results, relationships etc. If their anger is deep rooted, caused by stress and depression etc then they may require counselling. I hope this helps.

Hi Marilyn, Just an observation, would it be training or would one to one coaching or counselling help them instead? This would then be very tailored to each individual and would ascertain the root cause of the anger and aggression, and then equip them with the tools that each person needed. I have found that senior people respond better to coaching rather than training. Not sure if this helps at all! Regards, Carolyn

As a qualified Anger Management coach I would highly recommend coaching rather than training. Coaching can be done remotely and gives access to a qualified professional who can help explore the root cause and provide tools & techniques to help manage whilst monitoring would support. Happy to chat through further if interested - [email protected] or 07976 028132

Hi Marilyn. When you say anger and aggression issues, do you mean that they themselves find controlling their emotions a challenge? It may be useful to have a look at Emotional Intelligence and Mindfulness type awareness building. I have no specific provider recommendations, but hopefully others will.
