9:15 AM I Am Feeling... - Sharing Feelings and Positive Thinking

This module is expected to last for 20 minutes

Aims:
• To identify how participants are feeling.
• To encourage participants to recognise that they are not alone, and that their feelings are shared by others in the group.
• To encourage participants to focus on how they want to feel by the end of the training.




9:45 AM The Challenge of Speaking Positively

This module is expected to last for 15 minutes

Aims:
• To explore and identify what positive language is.
• To understand why positive language matters.




10:00 AM Describing Your Glass - Optimism vs Pessimism

This module is expected to last for 30 minutes

Aims:
• To explore the difference between optimistic and pessimistic behaviour.
• To understand the kind of actions to take in order to be more optimistic.




10:30 AM Break
10:45 AM Flenda’s Tale - Understanding Our Impact on the Behaviour of Others

This module is expected to last for 40 minutes

Aims:
• To help participants understand the impact of their behaviours on others and the part they can play in developing and improving difficult relationships at work.



Notes
Use this story to illustrate that however we view those around us can impact their perceptions of us and how our behaviours impact the behaviours of others. 

11:30 AM Changing Perceptions and Emotions

This module is expected to last for 60 minutes

Aims:
• To raise participants’ awareness of how their perceptions of situations influence their emotions and behaviour.
• To describe the types of unhelpful thinking we can identify in our perceptions.
• To provide an opportunity to identify how to change unhelpful thinking in a situation of the participant’s choosing.




12:30 PM Balloon Team - The Positive Emotions of Being Involved

This module is expected to last for 10 minutes

Aims:
• To explore the positive emotions connected to being involved and how they differ from those of an onlooker.




12:45 PM Lunch
1:30 PM Defining Success

This module is expected to last for 30 minutes

Aims:
• To define success.




2:00 PM Happy (Half) Hour - Celebrating The Team

This module is expected to last for 30 minutes

Aims:
• To encourage participants to think about the culture of their team or organisation.
• To identify the positive aspects of the team or organisation.



Notes
Use this activity slightly differently. Ask participants to create a cocktail that reflects their best attributes and what they bring to the 'party'. If necessary, help people recognise their unique talents, gifts and skills. 

2:30 PM Little Wins - Nourishing Positive Thinking

This module is expected to last for 30 minutes

Aims:
• To encourage participants to focus on positive outcomes.
• To encourage participants to reflect on and become more aware of their inner dialogue and the impact it has.
• To provide a simple tool to help participants reframe their thinking to make it more positive.



Notes
For some, the previous activity, giving voice to their attributes, might in itself be a 'little win'.

3:15 PM Positive Goal Setting

This module is expected to last for 45 minutes

Aims:
• To consider the role goals can play in helping a positive mental attitude and resilience.
• To consider why goals can help or hinder our resilience and how to ensure our goals help us move forward positively.



Notes
Ask participants to focus on their definition of success in this activity and construct goals that support this. 

4:00 PM The Challenge of Speaking Positively

This module is expected to last for 15 minutes

Aims:
• To explore and identify what positive language is.
• To understand why positive language matters.

4:10 PM Action Planning - Implementing the Learning

This module is expected to last for 15 minutes

Aims:
• To allow participants to reflect upon what they have learnt and create a plan for implementing the learning with clear goals and timescales.
• To identify the additional support they will need in order to achieve their goals.




4:30 PM Reach for the Stars - Achieving More

This module is expected to last for 15 minutes

Aims:
• To understand why self-limiting beliefs can affect performance.
• To explore the impact praise has on performance.
