Team building exercise for conference

I've been asked to deliver a team building exercise at a conference for approx 100 people. I have 1 hour and it's face to face. The delegates are part of the same directorate but work in different teams, mainly remotely, so don't know each other very well. I'm looking for an activity to build connections across the teams, and hopefully bring some energy and fun to the event.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

A wee update - I used the Networking Circle exercise and it landed very well! It brought great energy and fun to the room and uncovered some interesting and random connections. I'll definitely use it again - thank you!

I was going to recommend Remote Teams as it was specifically designed for our own conference with around 100 attendees and focused on collaboration across teams, but I can see that Zoe has already recommended it. :-)

Hi, I had a similar brief a couple of years ago, and designed a "Collborative Wordsearch" I took a selection of words that related to the themes of the conference, and put them into a 21 x 21 grid and filled in the blanks with random letters. I then split this grid into 4 sections of 11 x 11 so the centre vertical and horizontal rows would overlap two sections. These four grids were distributed across the tables. I think I had three versions of the completed wordsearch in the room (12 tables). Teams were tasked with being first to complete the wordsearch. The "trick" was that the longest word to find was 21 letters long, so no way it could be found in an 11x11 grid. The teams had to find other teams to works with to complete the larger grid and then find all the words together. Hi Nyree,

I was going to suggest Remote Teams as it was designed especially for larger groups in a conference setting but that it needs more than an hour, if you can stretch to 90 minutes it would work though so may be worth a look anyway.

Breaking Out of Our Boxes could work too, again it’s designed for very large group and suited for conferences.

You could also have a look at Bingo, it will take longer to run than the suggested 15 minutes given the size of your group.
